Dandelion Friends Family Jobs Descriptions

Communications – Chelsea 

Point of contact for potential families, provides required forms (emergency contact, liability waivers, etc)  and manages keeping forms on file and up to date. Updates and distributes the phone tree. Communicates with landlords, teacher, etc and relays information to the group. Sends emails regarding any pertinent group information, keeps minutes and notes at meetings. Works on recruitment to maintain numbers from year to year. 

Money – Kelly

Collects monthly tuition, pays rent and teacher and sends a monthly report to the group. Maintains a saving’s balance minimum and budget. Makes sure the group as a whole is aware of finances. Reimburses anyone who makes purchases for the group.

Classroom organization – Meghan

Keeps things in the classroom orderly and tidy. Organizes the supply closet and keeps a list of needed supplies. Organizes any moving events that need to happen (special events at leased location, start/end of school year moving/storage, etc.)

Calendar – Meghan

Creates and maintains a digital calendar for families to sign up for work days and makes sure it is up to date. Notes any school closures, sibling days, field trips and birthdays. Posts a hard copy of the monthly work schedule in the classroom. Sends email reminders of special events on the calendar and when work shifts need to be filled.

Field trips – Kelly

Plan outings in coordination with Miss Angie related to the monthly theme. Keep a running list of ideas and contact information to help guide the next person in this position. Schedule events and add to the calendar. 

Laundry and supplying non-toxic cleaner – Rachelle

Brings home dirty laundry to be washed once a week, returns to school and puts away. This consists mostly of the hand towels the kids use to dry their hands and cleaning rags. Special projects/experiments may result in more laundry but this tends to be one load a week. Also, refills spray bottles with homemade non-toxic general purpose cleaner for the classroom. The spray bottle is supplied in the supply cabinet with directions on how to make it. 

Play dough – Alexis 

Makes play dough for the classroom. This tends to be a bi-weekly job but might be more frequent if a sickness passes through the class. Uses seasonal themes or the monthly theme to guide colors/glitter/scents, etc. Be creative and have fun!

1st aid kit keeper and Emergency event education – Sam and Jordan 

Inventories and maintains the first aid kit, purchases items as needed.* Maintain first aid protocol. Schedule fire drills with the teacher and keep escape route map / emergency protocol on bulletin board. Keep parents informed of fire alarm and extinguisher locations. Go over and update emergency protocol if needed (last updated 2016).

Toy Sanitizer – Cheyenne

Sanitizes toys and surfaces by wiping them down with Clorox wipes and/or bringing them home to run through the dishwasher as needed, especially when the kids are sick.

 Supplies – Jessalyn

Purchases supplies as directed by teacher and with approval from financial person.* Create and update a list that is posted so people can add it as they notice we are low on or out of things.

While working on communications, families have asked me if we have a website, which led to me to think about how we could get one put together and it seems like a great job for someone! A simple site with our basic info, contact and forms for current families to access would be a very informative and helpful resource.
